Detoxification
The initial key step in your treatment

From an integrative medicine viewpoint, most of the diseases in today are the result of the body’s reaction to poisoning. When we go to the doctor having symptoms of illness, however are varied (such as inflammation, migraines, pain, nausea, diarrhea, etc.), these are always the body’s defense reaction against an intoxicating agent. A poor field is the foundation of any physical imbalance; the body, through different strategies, depending on the evolution of our illness, attempts to avoid growth or accumulation of toxins and get rid of them. It’s very important to understand not only the toxicity can be acute, as in having eaten a fish in poor condition and cause an infection. Toxemia also is a chronic process. Is the accumulation of lots of other elements of our environment, not only these but also of those toxins generated within our body, which are unable to be removed by natural means due to a sedentary lifestyle, an imbalanced diet, stress, and many other factors of daily life. Undoubtedly any treatment or medicine that we take for chronic diseases without detoxification, will not produce long-term effects and often there will be a recurrence of the condition. The toxins generated within our bodies all are almost intermediate products of the metabolism or metabolic waste, for example, carbon dioxide through breathing (very important). Other internal toxins are also the result of an imbalance hormone secretion, which in normal conditions they shouldn't be secreted, for example estrogen imbalanced (progesterone), inhibition of secretion of an intermediary substance such as insulin for diabetes or serotonin in depression; or just the opposite by increasing repeated simulation, by excess of some elements as thyroid hormone in hyperthyroidism. With regard to environmental toxins, some are formed by human activities such as the ones produced during waste incineration or pollution of the sea. No matter where they come from, the body has to eliminate. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have stated that there are about 100.000 toxic substances in the environment, of which 25% are found in food, water and air. This includes natural ones and the ones made by the man (synthetic). It’s a wide range of chemicals that are derived from the industry or added to foods and beverages such as additives or chemical used in agriculture (pesticides) or in crops (herbicides). Other are applied to animals such as beef, pork, chicken for control disease or to stimulate animal growth (antibiotics, hormones) that end in the consumer’s plate. The consequences of failing to remove toxic substances at a higher rate at which they are forming or entering the body are varied. A common symptom is fatigue and weariness that progresses through various degrees of intoxication to cause chronic and degenerative diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer and Parkinson’s disease among others. Detoxified therapies have different action angels to depurate the organism form both the accumulation of endogenous toxins as all toxic elements we get from the outside. Also the therapies aim to regulate the natural removal and replacement functions. Some therapies drain and detoxify the lymphatic system (the main drainage system and immune defense) as is the case with the Ionic Detox. Other therapies, such as Colon Hydrotherapy, mechanically cleans and regenerate the capacity of organs to eliminate toxins and purifies and regulates the function of the large intestine, preventing toxins to be absorbed into the blood and cells. Homotoxicological drugs drain and detoxify at the cellular membrane and his organelles. So, all these methodologies are used at different levels, and according to individual clinical conditions, which is what will determine the most appropriate detoxification therapy. At the same time, proper adjustments in our lifestyle are the ones that give the lasting effectiveness for either of those treatments. The change in our diet and the incorporation of sports or physical activity as a life discipline are crucial to unlock the natural process of continuous renewal and cellular rejuvenation. Through different detoxification therapy, changing diet and lifestyle all our cells clean their content and structure of toxic substances and excreted products that are accumulated. The cell returns to recycle and reuse what it needs and eliminate what not, regaining a state of maximum efficiency. What settings must include on my diet to support the detoxification process? The process is stimulated by a cleansing diet (detox diet), where nutrients are responsible for giving the signal of “is time to autocleanup and recycling”. The different diets vary in their ability to increase body toxemia. Many of the most dangerous toxins, such as pesticides, accumulate in human and animal fat; so a diet rich in “milk, meat and eggs” is a diet that increases the accumulation of toxic substances. A diet low in meat, specially all beef, pork, sausage, chicken and fatty cheese, is a diet with fewer toxins and therefore better in a long term. In a medium and long terms, a vegetarian (plant based) or semivegetarian that remove sausages and the excess of cheese high in fat and uses rationed salt, beef, chicken, and pork is a diet with a greater potential for maintaining lower toxins and general health. The integrative health professionals are the best source of advice to improve our lifestyle. Likewise, the implementation of the detoxification and nutrition therapies is the key step for the implementation of our medical and natural healing mechanisms. Reference: Pizzorno, J.E.
