DIGESTIVE SYSTEM AND AUTOIMMUNITY. THE KEY IS IN THE INTESTINAL WALL PDF Print E-mail

Dr. Luis David Suárez Rodríguez

mucosal_barrier_degradationAutoimmune diseases are defined as those in which our immune system does not recognize as part of the body itself and generates an immune response against our cells and tissues. Is undoubtedly a growing challenge for human health.

18 years ago just when I was in the 2nd year of medical career, autoimmune diseases are considered "rare" or "rare" and taught us that genetic predisposition was the most important factor for their development. Another thing we were taught then was that the tract was in some way "armored" against any type of allergen (ie, substances capable of producing an allergic response), because the digestive processes destroy all proteins regardless of their source.

Why Be Gluten-Free? PDF Print E-mail

The real truth about this gooey problem.

By Dr. Dena Mendes*

caritapan_smThe common misconception is that you stop the consumption of wheat and gluten only if a medical professional has diagnosed you with celiac disease. Being gluten intolerant is not the only reason to stay away from this mucus/inflammatory causing substance.

What exactly is gluten? I like to keep the definition simple: It's the glue that gunks up your gut, intestines, lymphatic system, sinus and joints. This, in turn, creates inflammation, which causes pain along with many of the health-related issues we are facing today including fibromyalgia, arthritis, asthma, ADD, autoimmune dysfunction, irritable bowel, all manner of gut issues, migraines and cancer. Oh, and did I mention that it makes you fat?

Of all the benefits of a detox program and healthy lifestyle, achieve and maintain anideal weight, is usually a priority in the list of people. Weight gain is due to many factors, two of which are a combination of inadequate food toxins.

Both make conditions such as insulin resistance, in this, the cells become desensitizedto insulin, leaving transport sugar (glucose) from the blood into cells. Insulin is a hormonesecreted by the pancreas in response to food intake, its basic function is to extractglucose from the blood to cells, where it will be used as an energy source. When there isexcess blood glucose, insulin levels remain high.

Although a correct amount of insulin is essentially a high level of this chronically, causesfat storage and a constant inflammatory state. A change in eating style, physical activityand hydration, as well as proper disposal, you get a balance of blood glucose, normalize insulin levels, lower inflammation and reduce fat accumulation.

For example, a diet to detoxify the liver, more specifically, the goal involves retrieving acorrect metabolism that can properly process sugars and fats. The accumulation of toxins in our environment and those generated in our body contributes to obesity.Eliminate toxins and enhance the natural disposal systems are a critical component forlong-term weight loss and enjoy a healthy metabolism.

Testing Diet and ADHD Link PDF Print E-mail

fatycellsfrom Naturalstandard.com

A recent study used a restricted elimination diet to test whether food allergies were linked to symptoms of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children.

Earlier research has suggested that food allergies may trigger or worsen symptoms of ADHD, but results have not been conclusive.

In the recent study, 100 children (4-8 years old) with ADHD were randomly assigned to follow an elimination diet or a general healthy diet for five weeks. The elimination diet excluded foods that commonly trigger allergic reactions or food intolerances, such as wheat, eggs, tomatoes and dairy products. Instead, the children ate foods that are unlikely to cause reactions, such as rice, white meat and some fruits and vegetables.

Wonders of the intestine not often tell

Did you know that your large intestine is an organ that runs from the cecum (where it connects with small intestine) to anus (cecum, colon

and rectum), and has a length of approximately five feet? Incredible no? The colon takes the remaining food (chyme) of the small intestine

and finish the process of absorption.

Colon's main function is to convert this chyme to be excreted in feces, although this may seem simple and routine, your gut has more stories to tell. During this process, the colon absorbs water from the chyme, changing its state from liquid to solid. The main characters in the history of the colon are billions of bacteria within this that produce vitamins K and B, as well as hydrogen gas, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and methane.

From an integrative medicine viewpoint, most of the diseases in today are the result of the body’s reaction to poisoning. When we go to the doctor having symptoms of illness, however are varied (such as inflammation, migraines, pain, nausea, diarrhea, etc.), these are always the body’s defense reaction against an intoxicating agent. A poor field is the foundation of any physical imbalance; the body, through different strategies, depending on the evolution of our illness, attempts to avoid growth or accumulation of toxins and get rid of them.
